Main Characters: Peter: a brave, young orphan who is being sent on a ship called the Never Land. He is the fearless leader of the lost boys, declared so for being the "oldest" and getting the farthest distance when spitting. Is fearless, youthful, witty, and for the most part selfless. He, being never exposed to many young girls before, develops strong emotions for Molly Aster but isn't aware of it. After being continuously exposed to the magic starstuff, he develops the ability to fly whenever he wants and to never age. Molly Aster: brought up in a good family, Molly is well educated, sophisticated, sweet, brave and determined. Her father, Lord Leonard Aster, becomes the new ambassador of Rundoon which made Molly the most important passenger on the Never Land. Molly belongs to a long line of starcatchers- the mortal enemy to the Others. She herself is a starcatcher-in-training. She sought to recover the stolen starstuff that was unknowingly, to most, taken aboard the Never Land. Molly too develops feelings for Peter. Black Stache: The mighty pirate captain of the Jolly Roger, and once before the Sea Devil. He is feared everywhere with a gruesome reputation. He is filthy, ungrateful, selfish, stubborn, and sought the magic starstuff once he heard about it being the "greatest treasure on the earth". He was defeated by Peter, who cut off his left hand, and became his arch foe. Black Stache's left hand was eaten by Mister Grin. Secondary Characters: The Lost Boys: There were originally four lost boys, all orphans form St. Norbert's Home For Wayward Boys, like Peter. James, Tubby Ted, Prentiss, and Thomas. James is best friends with Peter, very kind, and very brave. He will always step in if someone is in need of assistance or to help comfort others when he needs it himself. Tubby Ted enjoys the company of food and usually complains and becomes selfish when not properly fed. There is not much to be said about Prentiss and Thomas except that they are the youngest. Alf: An old sailor on the Never Land, very strong and well built. Alf has been on the water long enough to have good survival skills. He was once commanded by Slank and after coming in contact with the starstuff, he wants to know more about it. This is how he befriends Peter who is also curious. He saves the lost boys and protects them. Returned to England, in the end. Slank: Second in command of the Never Land, however, he happily acts as captain since the real captain is incapable. He is cunning, demanding, and greedy, but also revealed to be an Other with other ideas in mind for the treasure and for Molly. Mister Grin: An extremely large crocodile that eats the cut off hand of Black Stache. He was once a peaceful creature, until the first Englishmen came and thought it would be fun to hunt him. They taunted him, made him miserable, and filled him with rage. A small Mollusk boy tries to free him, but is shot. The other natives attack and free him, but he is ruined. Mister Grin at the Englishmen and wanted more. The Mollusks put him to work as a human-visitor-eater. Fighting Prawn: The leader of the Mollusk tribe, he lived among the English for years as a slave. He despises English because the ruined Mister Grin and shot his son. Tinker Bell: Originally a green and yellow bird until Lord Aster transformed her into a fairy for Peter's protection. Only Peter can understand her. She was said to be jealous and would soon be a handful for Peter; she was jealous of Molly. Lord Aster: Molly's father, Leonard, is a full starcatcher and one of the greatest. He is part of a great family of starcatchers and became ambassador to King Zarboff, one of the evilest Others in history. His position was part of a plan to recover stolen starstuff. Ammm: An intelligent porpoise that is in league with the starcatchers. He helps Molly and her father to communicate, teaches Peter to fly, guides them, and protects them. He is strong, kind-hearted, polite, and considerately does not correct Molly's rough porpoise. Little Richard: Slank's second hand. Very muscular, large, terrified of spiders, not very bright, and the enforcer on the Never Land. Smee: The much abused first mate on the Jolly Roger, Smee is rather large and wishes for a little appreciation from Black Stache. Mrs. Bumbrake: Molly's Governess, she tries to watch Molly's every step and control her every move. She doesn't approve of Peter's crowd of "riffraff", but falls for Slank. Harbuckle and Preston: Two pirates on the Sea Devil crew that were good sailors, but were cast overboard because of their weight. The two heaviest people aboard the Sea Devil, Black Stache wanted the lightest weight to match the Wasp's speed. They were saved by the Never Land. Teacher: A blonde and beautiful mermaid that was a fish that was transformed by the starstuff. The leader of the other mermaids in the lagoon, was saved by Peter. She, in return, saved him and developed emotions for him. Mack: Accompanied Alf in loading the chest aboard the Never Land, but didn't make contact with it. He is a very by-the-rule type of person. Mr. Grempkin: The grammar teacher at St.Norbert's as well as a teacher of top rank there. He enjoy's physical discipline and making up rules on the spot. Captain Cyrus Pembridge: a confused drunk who is none other than the captain of the Never Land. He drinks rum instead of learning to be captain and is known as the worst captain in history. He is in this position because his wife, in a desperate attempt to get rid of him, found the worst ship in her family's shipping line and insisted he become captain. |
